Don’t Retire Kid

Ian Goldberg is a sports dad, coach and the Founder of iSport360.  His SportsTech company is helping 80,000 youth sport coaches, parents and kids set goals, share player feedback, foster healthy team communication and engage parents in a positive way….all so our kids can have more success, more confidence and more fun.  Try iSport360 for free here.

I was honored to join thought-leaders from across the sports industry at this week’s Aspen Institute Project Play Summit.  The event was hosted by ESPN announcer Cassidy Hubbarth and attended by leaders from Under Armor, Special Olympics, Nickelodeon, Yahoo Sports, UCLA, the NBA… and a little company (making a HUGE impact) called iSport360. The focus of my participation was: “Changing the Culture in Youth Sports”.

My takeaway from the Summit:  To keep kids active in youth sports, we don’t need to be softer on them, we don’t need to teach them to accept defeat or mediocrity, we don’t need to tell them that they are better than they really are. But regardless of your player’s sport, age or skill level, we need to make them feel important, nurture their love of the game, validate their emotions and concentrate on building character as much as we focus on improving technical skills. Coaches and parents all need to play a role… but the focus needs to remain on the kids.

iSport360 is on a mission to provide tools and best practices to coaches, parents and kids in sports to help kids build confidence, achieve success and have fun….and we look forward to working with the biggest names in youth sports to make the magic happen.  #DontRetireKid
Have a great sports season.
