The Magic That Happens when the Principal Becomes Coach

Jeff Gorman has become an overnight celebrity on a magical field of dreams.  Last week he was known as the Deputy Superintendent for Mt. Vernon School District, but this week he is known as the man who coached his 13-year old son and his teammates from Freehold, NJ to the Little League State Championship. It puts a smile on your face a mile wide and I was lucky enough to hear the story first-hand from the beaming coach since Jeff is a dear friend and former teammate. Click here to read more.

Youth Sports Overscheduling

Our Kids are Way Over-Scheduled …Embrace it Parents!

This spring, my wife and I looked at our schedule for our two kids and realized that 60 of our next 75 days had some sort of practice or game. As a parent, a coach, a former athlete, and someone who works in the youth sports tech business, I asked myself… is this healthy for my kids or my family?

I grew up in the Bronx, NY and my friends and I would walk outside my building at a young age and just go play. No carpool, no scheduled practice, no organization. We just figured it out. Click here to read more.
